Rob Thorne has been the pastor of Plainedge Baptist Church since June of 1979. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and accepted Christ as his savior at the age of 5 at the Bluff Avenue Baptist Church. Believing that God had called him into the ministry he attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. Later he would also graduate from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Virginia with a Master of Arts in Religion.

'Practical preaching for powerful living' is the way that Pastor Thorne communicates God's Word. It is evident at Plainedge Baptist Church that God is doing a great work. The church is alive with vision and enthusiasm and offers many ministries to attract people to the message of Christ's love and forgiveness.
Pastor Thorne lives in Bethpage, New York with his wife and ministry partner, Catherine. They are the proud parents of three beautiful children: Sommer, Eric, and Austin.
