Eternal life is not something that comes up a lot in conversation today but you know that at one time or another everyone thinks about it. Have you thought about it lately?
The only way to be certain that you have eternal life is to be sure that you know God. And, the only way that you can know God is by knowing Jesus. Jesus is the only way to God and eternal life.
Jesus loves you very much! It may sound unacceptable like those hand painted messages on roadside rocks or on the steel girders under interstate overpasses. But through Jesus’ love and care we can add new meaning and significance to our lives. Maybe you have heard it all before but ignored it. It may be familiar, but the truth is that Jesus’ love is as basic as air and bread. In fact, Jesus’ love is the only truly unconditional love anywhere in this universe.
You may be having financial, family, or career problems. Maybe you are hurting from divorce, loss of employment, the death of a loved one, or some physical or emotional pain. But know this – Jesus loves you!
On the other hand things may be going right for you. But there are a lot of people who enjoy one form of success or another but still feel that something is missing. Things like money, health, family, and the “good life” are important but do you ever have that nagging thought: is this all there is?
Eternity is just around the corner for all of us. Just the thought of it may give you great joy or cause you fear and anxiety.
If you would like to know Jesus and have eternal life it is as easy as 1, 2, 3. Here’s what you have to do:
1. Acknowledge that you are a sinner. Everyone needs to start here. You are in need of His forgiveness. The Bible says: “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23 . We have missed God’s mark.
2. Believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins, took the punishment that you deserve. This is important. “Believing” in the Bible is more than just intellectually accepting the facts that Jesus died and rose from the dead. “Believing” means depend on and to trust completely.
3. Receive Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. Here is a prayer you can pray: Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. Please forgive me for all of my sins. I believe that you are God and that you died on the cross, and rose from the dead for me. I accept you into my heart and life to wash away my sins and give me eternal life in Heaven someday. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.”
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Romans 10:13 .
